- One Direction To Cover Blondie For Comic Relief
Boyband One Direction are to record a cover of one of Blondie's most famous songs to raise money for charity.
The pop stars will take charge of the official single for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day fundraiser next year and they have decided to put their stamp on Blondie classic "One Way Or Another".
Bandmember Harry Styles says, "We have grown up with Comic Relief and taken part in lots of Red Nose Days at school so we were thrilled to be asked to do this year's Red Nose Day single. It's such an honor for us. We can't wait to perform our version of this iconic pop song and raise as much money as possible for this incredibly important cause that is really close to our hearts."
His bandmate Zayn Malik adds, "At school Red Nose Day was a big deal! Me and my friends used to really look forward to it!"
The single will be released in January ahead of the charity's Red Nose Day on March 15.
The event is an annual fundraiser in Britain featuring a star-studded line-up of singers and comedians - Paul McCartney, Justin Bieber, Adele, George Michael and Susan Boyle came together for the 2012 event to help raise $118 million for good causes.
Previous acts to have recorded the official Comic Relief single include Cliff Richard, the Spice Girls, Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Boyzone, Westlife and McFly.
