- One Direction 'Amazed' By Madame Tussauds' Wax Figures
On Thursday, British-Irish boy band One Direction were excited when they finally came face-to-face with their waxwork doubles at Madame Tussauds' official unveiling in London.
Employees at the tourist attraction have spent months recreating the stars in detail for the life-like figures, which will tour Madame Tussauds branches around the world after a stay in the British capital.
Each band member gave two sittings so the Madame Tussauds team could take hundreds of precise measurements, examine their skin tones, eye colors and hair - which was also double checked by personal hair stylist Louise Teasdale - to ensure they were totally accurate.
A team of 40 people, including sculptors, molders, hair stylists, colorists and wardrobe experts worked flat out for four months to create the figures which each cost $230,000 to make.
The Pop stars turned out for the official unveiling and posed for pictures with the dummies, with Harry Styles saying of the occasion, "It's amazing and such an honor" and Zayn Malik adding, "They look wicked (good), they're bang on (just right)."
Niall Horan admitted he was shocked to see his double wearing a pair of sneakers he once owned, adding, "This is weird - he's wearing my actual shoes."
The band's wax figures will be on display in London from April 18th to July 11th, in New York from July 19th to October 11th, and Sydney from October 24th to January 28th.
